Dance Competition

Brasil FurFest proudly presents the 8th edition of its Dance Competition.
Just like the big furry conventions taking place all over the world, we’ll enjoy furries and fursuiters showing off their skills in a lively competition!
The Grand Finale will happen on Saturday, July 19th, at 8PM, at Hotel’s Teather
GENERAL TERMS – ENGLISH
Clause 1. All attendees regularly registered for Brasil FurFest 2025 may participate in the activity “Brasil FurFest 2025 Dance Competition”.
Clause 1.a. Anyone who has a badge issued by Brasil FurFest for the 2025 event, regardless of age, is considered regularly registered at Brasil FurFest 2025.
Clause 2. Those who have chosen to have their image rights protected will not be able to participate in the Dance Competition, unless they modify this option, as the competition is recorded by a professional video team and may be shown partially or in full in a online through the Brasil FurFest website and/or social media.
Clause 3. The Dance Competition is a purely recreational activity.
Clause 4. The Dance Competition will be divided into two categories, namely: 1) Fursuiter; and 2) Non-Fursuiter.
Clause 4.a. All those who are wearing, at the time of the dance, a fursuit/cosplay that characterizes the character, minimally composed of a “character head” that covers the participant’s head completely and “gloves” on the hands (other elements are optional).
Clause 4.b. All those who do not fit into the “Fursuiter” category, described in Clause 4.a, can register in the “Non-Fursuiter” modality.
Clause 4.c. The dancer limit is two attendees per performance.
Clause 4.d. Attendees can only participate in one category, enabling equal participation for everyone.
Clause 4.e. In the case of a pair formed by a fursuiter and a non-fursuiter, the pair will compete in the “Fursuiters” category.
Clause 5. The attendee may use any other additional resources (banner, signs, banners, posters and other graphic materials) for presentation, except those that represent bladed weapons, firearms, “nerfs” or anything that is contrary to the established in the general regulations, which are available for consultation on the website: https://brasilfurfest.com.br/regulamento.
Clause 5.a. The additional resources referred to in Clause 5 must be provided and handled by the attendees themselves (or people expressly authorized to do so), with BFF or any member of the staff not being responsible for the handling or supply of such items.
PROCEDURE
From registration
Clause 6. Attendee(s) wishing to participate in the Dance Competition must fill out a form and submit a dance video of up to 2 minutes for the “Dance Competition Auditions” with the dance that you want to present during the Grand Final of the event.
Clause 7. The requirements to be presented when filling out the form mentioned in clause 6 are:
Clause 7.a. The only way to register for the Dance Competition is by submitting a video of up to 2 minutes of dancing for the Dance Competition;
Clause 7.b. Choose the category you will participate in (“Fursuiter” or “Non-Fursuiter”), under the terms of clause 4.
Clause 7.c. Present music to be performed during your participation (in mp3 format, minimum quality 128kbps, maximum size 50 megabytes), edited to have a maximum dance time of 2 minutes.
Clause 7.d. Music, remixing a song or editing songs is free. Songs cannot contain profanity, drugs, violence, racism;
Clause 7.e. Enter the title of the song and the name of the respective artist; It is
Clause 7.f. Tacitly accept this regulation, made available at least 3 (three) months in advance.
Clause 8. The participant(s) will have a period of one week after the announcement of the finalists to remedy any constant defects via email [email protected], as per Clause 7 and sections.
Clause 9. Confirmation of effective registration in the championship will only take place when filling out the form and sending the video of the elimination audition (clauses 7 and 8).
Clause 10. The procedural rules listed in this regulation will be valid for both types of competition.
From the competition
Clause 11. The competition will have a mandatory theme and will be divided into two stages: “Elimination Auditions” and “Grand Finale.”
Clause 11.a. Attendees will first fill out a form and submit a video for an elimination audition via an online form. attendees must present their choreography and music in this video. The Brasil FurFest team will choose, without giving grades, up to 6 (six) attendees according to their judgment in relation to the best auditions in each category to participate in the “Grand Finale”. The Brasil FurFest team will try to maintain an equal number of attendees in each category for the Grand Final presentation, adding up to a maximum of 12 (twelve) presentations in total. If there is a small number of attendees in one of the categories, the judges will be able to fill the 12 places with attendees from the other category.
Clause 11.b. The “Grand Final” will be held at night on the Saturday of the event, in the Main Room, with a maximum limit of 12 (twelve) presentations (according to clause 10.a.).
Clause 11.c. The atendee(s) who obtains the highest score among the others registered in that respective modality, according to the evaluation criteria in clause 12, are declared the winner(s).
From the trial
Clause 12. There will be three evaluation criteria for the attendee(s), which will result in 3 grades: Creativity, Execution and Entertainment;
Clause 12.a. Creativity will analyze the inventive and artistic capacity of the participant(s) regarding the choreography, gestures and movements presented;
Clause 12.b. The execution will analyze the participant(s)’s ease in terms of gestures, movements and timing according to the costume(s) chosen for the performance; It is
Clause 12.c. The entertainment will include the ability of the participant(s) to create, based on the choreography, a presentation that is attractive to the judges and the audience.
Clause 13. The list of attendees and their order of presentation will be announced online, up to two weeks before the event, which will be defined in a draw.
Clause 13.a. The order of presentations is subject to change as the program progresses.
Clause 14. All attendees will be required to have their props, accessories and makeup checked during the audition and/or preview of the Grand Final by a BFF staff, under penalty of clause 22 being applied.
Clause 15. The grades described in clause 11 will be awarded at the end of each presentation by an examining panel made up of 3 jurors in complete confidentiality to a BFF staff member who is on site.
Clause 15.a. After delivering the scores, the judges will have a maximum of 45 (forty-five) seconds each to make any comments about the presentation they have just watched.
Clause 16. The final grade will be composed of the arithmetic average of the grades offered by the examining board (clause 15) that will watch the performance of the participant(s) in the submitted song (clause 7.d).
Clause 17. The attendee(s) must be present at the venue at the time of their presentation and from the conclusion of the presentations, when the champion or the need to break the tie will be announced, under penalty of summary disqualification of the participant(s).
Clause 18. The final score is sovereign and will be counted throughout the championship, with the champion(s) being announced after the conclusion of the presentations, except in the event that a tiebreaker is necessary (clause 17).
Clause 18.a. The final classification and the respective score for each dancer will be posted in a location to be indicated by the organization during the party and, later, on the Brasil FurFest 2025 website and social media.
Clause 19. If there is a tie between two or more attendees, the tiebreaker criteria will be the highest score in the following items, in this order, entertainment, creativity and execution. If the tie remains, the judges will debate among themselves which dancer is the best.
From the awards
Clause 20. The winners of each category will be awarded with a trophy and a basic registration voucher for Brasil FurFest in 2026. The competitors placed in second and third place will be mentioned at the end of prize ceremony.
Clause 20.a. Other prizes may be announced during the dance competition.
Clause 20.b. Prizes are personal and non-transferable, have symbolic value and will not be exchanged for cash under any circumstances.
PENALTIES
Clause 21. If the music sent does not comply with the rules and the defects are not remedied within the time provided for in clause 8, registration in the Dance Competition will be summarily and irrevocably cancelled.
Clause 22. The participant(s) who refuses to show(s) the prop(s) that will be used during the presentation, in accordance with clause 14, will have your registration(s) in the Dance Competition has been cancelled.
Clause 23. Dabcer(s) who do not appear on stage at the time of their presentation, when called, will be automatically disqualified from the competition, with such information being recorded in the final list as withdrawal .
Clause 24. If the dancer(s) are announced and called to present a tiebreaker, not attending will be classified as last in the tiebreaker criteria.
Clause 25. Other incidents not covered by this regulation will be resolved in a sovereign manner by the staff, in accordance with the general regulations of Brasil FurFest 2024 and current legislation.
JUDGMENT
There will be three evaluation criteria for the participant(s), which will result in 3 scores: Creativity, Execution and Entertainment;
Creativity: The jury will analyze the inventive and artistic ability of the participant(s) regarding the choreography, gestures and movements presented.
Execution: The judge will analyze the resourcefulness of the participant(s) in terms of gestures, movements and timing according to the costume(s) chosen for the performance.
Entertainment: The jury will contemplate the ability of the participant(s) to create from the choreography a presentation that is attractive to the judges and the audience.
Order of scores in the event of a tie:
Entertainment, Creativity and Execution
