Dance Competition

Brasil FurFest proudly presents the 6th edition of its Dance Competition.
Just like the big furry conventions taking place all over the world, we’ll enjoy furries and fursuiters showing off their skills in a lively competition!

The competition will be divided into 2 (two) categories:
– Fursuiters (single or double)
– Non Fursuiters (single or double)
Presentation time is up to 2 minutes.
The theme is free, but Anime/Cartoon music (opening and soundtrack) and Video Games soundtrack are prohibited. Participants must have a piece of clothing and/or an accessory and/or makeup in the “Candy” theme.

Regulations Dance Competition Brasil FurFest

GENERAL TERMS

Clause 1. All participants regularly registered to Brasil FurFest 2022 will be able to participate in the activity “Brasil FurFest 2022 Dance Competition”.

Clause 1.a. Anyone who has a badge issued by Brasil FurFest for the 2022 party of the year is considered to be regularly enrolled in Brasil FurFest 2022, regardless of age.

Clause 2. Those who chose to have their image rights protected will not be able to participate in the Dance Competition, unless modifying such option, since the competition is recorded by a professional video team, and may be shown in full online through of the Brasil FurFest website and/or social media.

Clause 3. The Dance Competition is a purely recreational activity.

Clause 4. The Dance Competition will be divided into two categories, namely: 1) Fursuiter; and 2) Non-Fursuiter.

Clause 4.a. All those who are wearing a fursuit/cosplay that characterizes the character at the time of the dance can register in the “Fursuiter” modality, composed at least by a “character’s head” that covers the participant’s head completely and “gloves” on the hands (others elements are optional).

Clause 4.b. All those who do not fit in the “Fursuiter” modality, described in Clause 4.a.

Clause 4.c. The limit of dancers is two participants per performance.

Clause 4.d. Participants can only participate in one category, making it possible for everyone to participate equally.

Clause 4.e. In the case of a pair formed by a fursuiter and a non-fursuiter, the pair will compete in the “Fursuiters” category.

Clause 5. Participants must use one of the following items for their presentation: clothing, accessories (prop) or makeup within the theme of Brasil FurFest 2022. Participants may use any other additional resources (banner, signs, banners, posters and other graphic materials) for presentation, with the exception of those that represent bladed weapons, firearms, “nerfs” or anything contrary to what is established in the general regulation, which is available for consultation on the website: https://www.brasilfurfest. com.br/regulamento.

Clause 5.a. The additional resources referred to in Clause 5 must be provided and handled by the participants themselves (or persons expressly authorized to do so), not having BFF or any member of the staff responsible for handling or providing such items.

PROCEDURE

Registration

Clause 6. Participant(s) who wish to participate in the Dance Competition must do so in person with the Brasil FurFest staff on the Saturday of the event, from 9 am, until the deadline on the Saturday of the event, at 11:00 am, in the room designated for “Dance Competition Auditions”.

Clause 7. The following are requirements to be presented when filling out the form mentioned in clause 6:

Clause 7.a. Presentation of certified badge(s) issued by Brasil FurFest for the year 2022;

Clause 7.b. Choose the category you will participate (“Fursuiter” or “Not Fursuiter”), pursuant to clause 4.

Clause 7.c. Present music to be played during your participation (in mp3 format, minimum quality 128kbps, maximum size of 50 megabytes), edited to have a maximum time of 2 minutes.

Clause 7.d. Music, remixing a song or editing songs is free with the exception of opening themes or soundtracks from cartoons/animated movies/animes and soundtracks from electronic games (video games). The songs cannot contain profanity, drug apology, violence, racism;

Clause 7.e. Inform the title of the song and the name of the respective artist; and

Clause 7.f. Tacitly accept this regulation, made available at least 3 (three) months in advance and also accessible when registering on site as described in clause 6.

Clause 8. The participant(s) will have 30 minutes of time to remedy any defects contained in Clause 7 and items.

Clause 9. Confirmation of registration in the competition will be given only at the time of the elimination auditions, after the resolution of any problems (clauses 7 and 8).

Clause 10. The procedural rules listed in this regulation will be valid for the two modalities of the competition.

Competition

Clause 11. The competition will have a mandatory theme and will be divided into two stages: “Elimination Auditions” and “Grand Final.”

Clause 11.a. Participants will first perform in an eliminatory audition starting at 11 am on the Saturday of the event, in the room designated for such activity. Participants must present their choreography and music to the judges present. The judges will choose, without giving marks, up to 6 (six) participants according to their judgment regarding the best auditions in each category to participate in the “Grand Final”. The judges should try to maintain an equal number of participants in each category for the Grand Final presentation, adding up to a maximum of 12 (twelve) presentations in total. If there is a small number of participants in one of the categories, the judges will be able to complete the 12 vacancies with participants from the other category.

Clause 11.b. The “Grand Final” will be held at night on the Saturday of the event, in the Main Room, with a maximum limit of 12 (twelve) presentations (according to clause 10.a.).

Clause 11.c. It is (are) declared the winner(s) the participant(s) who obtain(s) the highest score among the others enrolled in that respective modality, according to the evaluation criteria of clause 12.

Judgment

Clause 12. There will be three evaluation criteria for the participant(s), which will result in 3 grades: Creativity, Execution and Entertainment;

Clause 12.a. Creativity will analyze the inventive and artistic ability of the participant(s) regarding the choreography, gestures and movements presented;

Clause 12.b. The execution will analyze the resourcefulness of the participant(s) in terms of gestures, movements and synchronism according to the costume(s) chosen for the performance; and

Clause 12.c. The entertainment will contemplate the ability of the participant(s) to create from the choreography a presentation that is attractive to the judges and the audience.

Clause 13. The time of the grand final will be posted on the day, at least 2 (two) hours in advance, the list of participants and the respective order of presentation, which will be defined by drawing lots.

Clause 13.a. The order of presentations is subject to change as the program progresses.

Clause 14. All participants will be required to check their props, accessories and makeup during the audition and/or preview of the Grand Final by a BFF staff, under penalty of application of clause 22.

Clause 15. The marks described in clause 11 will be awarded at the end of each presentation by an examining board composed of 3 judges in total confidentiality to a BFF staff who is on site.

Clause 15.a. After the delivery of the scores, the judges will have a maximum time of 45 (forty-five) seconds each to make any comments on the presentation they have just watched.

Clause 16. The final grade will be composed through the arithmetic average of the grades offered by the examining board (clause 15) that will watch the performance of the participant(s) in the submitted song (clause 7.d).

Clause 17. The participant(s) must be present at the venue at the time of their presentation and from the conclusion of the presentations, when the champion will be announced or the need for a tiebreaker, under penalty of summary disqualification of the participant(s).

Clause 18. The final grade is sovereign and will be counted throughout the championship, with the champion(s) being announced after the conclusion of the presentations, except in the event that a tiebreaker is necessary (clause 17).

Clause 18.a. The final classification and the respective note of each participant will be posted in a place to be indicated by the organization during the party and, later, on the website and social media of Brasil FurFest 2022.

Clause 19. In the event of a tie between two or more participants, the tie-breaking criterion will be the highest score in the following items, in that order, entertainment, creativity and execution. If there is still a tie, the judges will debate among themselves who is the best participant.

Awards

Clause 20. The winners of each category will be awarded a trophy and a basic registration voucher for the 2023 Brasil FurFest. Competitors placed in second and third place in each category will be awarded a trophy.

Clause 20.a. Other prizes may be announced during the dance competition.

Clause 20.b. The prizes are personal and non-transferable, have symbolic value and will not be exchanged for cash values ​​under any circumstances.

PENALTIES

Clause 21. If the submitted music does not comply with the rules and the defects are not remedied within the time provided for in clause 8, registration in the Dance Competition will be summarily and irrevocably cancelled.

Clause 22. The participant(s) who refuse to show the prop(s) that will be used during the presentation, pursuant to clause 14, will have cancelled your registration(s) in the Dance Competition.

Clause 23. The participant(s) who do not appear on stage at the time of their presentation, when called, will be automatically disqualified from the competition, such information being recorded in the final list as withdrawal .

Clause 24. If the participant(s) are announced and called to show a tie, failing to appear will be classified as last in the tiebreaker criterion.

Clause 25. Other occurrences not covered by this regulation will be resolved in a sovereign manner by the staff, in accordance with the general regulation of Brasil FurFest 2022 and current legislation.

JUDGMENT 

There will be three evaluation criteria for the participant(s), which will result in 3 scores: Creativity, Execution and Entertainment;

Creativity: The jury will analyze the inventive and artistic ability of the participant(s) regarding the choreography, gestures and movements presented.

Execution: The judge will analyze the resourcefulness of the participant(s) in terms of gestures, movements and timing according to the costume(s) chosen for the performance.

Entertainment: The jury will contemplate the ability of the participant(s) to create from the choreography a presentation that is attractive to the judges and the audience.
